Watch: Andrew faces New Police Investigation

Former Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor faces a fresh police probe as officers investigate allegations that Jeffrey Epstein trafficked women to the royal Scottish residence, Balmoral.

Police Scotland has confirmed enquiries into stays at the King’s Highlands estate by the late convicted paedophile and his former girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell, who is in jail in the US.

Police Scotland said: ‘We have received information and active enquiries are ongoing, but these are at a very early stage.

‘All enquiries are evidence led, with the needs of victim survivors at the heart of those enquiries.

‘We would never confirm details of ongoing enquiries and it would be inappropriate to comment further.’

Forces including Thames Valley Police, the Metropolitan Police and Surrey Police have live investigations linked to the release of the Epstein files, the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC) confirmed.

The NPCC said: ‘Identifying any further potential offending, suspects, victims or witnesses is a complex process and will take time, but UK policing remains committed to carrying out a meticulous assessment of the material released by the US Department of Justice.’

Andrew and Maxwell are said to have flown to Balmoral in 2006 on a private jet owned by Epstein.  Epstein and Maxwell were reportedly regular guests at royal residences in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

The Daily Express reported that the inquiries related to claims that women were trafficked to the estate.

    Andrew denies any wrongdoing.

Pictures previously released by the Department of Justice in the US appeared to show Andrew and Epstein on a shooting trip on the grounds of the sprawling residence.

Located in the Scottish Highlands, Balmoral Castle has belonged to the Royal Family since 1852 when Queen Victoria and Prince Albert acquired the estate.

The castle has been described as “a treasured retreat for the Royal Family” and was where Queen Elizabeth II died at the age of 96 in 2022.

  • Have Eugenie & Beatrice made Major Sarah Ferguson Decision?

Have Eugenie & Beatrice made Major Sarah Ferguson Decision?

Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie have reportedly made a significant decision regarding their relationship with their mother, Sarah Ferguson, as the York family continues to face public scrutiny.

The sisters are said to be navigating a difficult period following the controversies surrounding their parents, Sarah Ferguson and Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, whose names have been linked to Jeffrey Epstein. Andrew has consistently denied wrongdoing in connection with Epstein.

Despite the challenges surrounding their family, Beatrice and Eugenie are reportedly maintaining contact with their mother while reconsidering how they appear together in public.

A Major Change in the York Family’s Relationship

The reported decision marks a noticeable change from the close public relationship the three women once displayed. For years, Sarah Ferguson and her daughters were frequently seen together at family celebrations, charity events and other gatherings.

However, recent reports suggest that the sisters have decided to avoid making public appearances alongside their mother for the time being.

This does not necessarily mean they have ended their relationship with Ferguson. Instead, they are reportedly trying to maintain their family connection privately while keeping a greater distance in the public eye.

The princesses are also said to have visited their mother discreetly at her new rental property, away from photographers and public attention.

Their approach suggests they want to continue supporting Ferguson emotionally without drawing further attention to the controversies surrounding the family.

Why Beatrice and Eugenie May Be Keeping Their Distance

Several factors could explain the sisters’ reported decision.

One consideration is their relationship with King Charles III and the wider royal family. With continued attention focused on Andrew’s past associations and the consequences for his royal position, Beatrice and Eugenie may be keen to protect their own standing within the monarchy.

The sisters have maintained their royal titles despite the changes to their father’s status. Their position, however, does not necessarily shield them from public scrutiny connected to their parents.

Another factor is the pressure that years of controversy may have placed on the family. The close bond that once defined the relationship between Ferguson and her daughters is now reportedly facing considerable strain.

Although the sisters may wish to remain loyal to their mother, they must also consider how their public appearances could affect their own reputations and relationships with other members of the royal family.

Balancing Family Loyalty With Royal Expectations

Beatrice and Eugenie appear to face a difficult balancing act between their private family relationships and their public responsibilities.

Completely distancing themselves from their parents could be emotionally challenging, while continuing to appear alongside them at public events could expose the sisters to additional criticism.

Maintaining private contact while limiting public appearances may therefore offer a compromise.

The situation is particularly sensitive following the changes to Andrew’s living arrangements and royal status, which have reportedly caused emotional difficulties for his daughters.

Family gatherings, holidays and other occasions could become increasingly complicated as the sisters attempt to navigate these circumstances.

For now, there is no indication that they intend to end their relationship with either parent entirely. Their reported approach appears to involve creating a distinction between their private lives and their public image.

    What About Their Royal Titles?

Despite the controversy surrounding their parents, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie retain their princess titles and their existing royal status.

Changes to Andrew’s titles and position have not automatically removed their own titles. Their standing remains separate from the decisions made about their father.

Sarah Ferguson, meanwhile, has also faced changes in how she presents herself publicly amid the developments surrounding Andrew.

There has been speculation about whether the sisters might eventually distance themselves further from royal life. However, there is no confirmed indication that they intend to give up their titles or step away from their existing positions.

    What Happens Next?

The sisters’ reported approach suggests that they may continue supporting their mother privately while exercising greater caution about public appearances.

Rather than signalling a complete family breakdown, the situation may reflect an attempt to manage difficult circumstances while protecting personal relationships and reputations.

Future family gatherings and royal events may offer a clearer picture of how Beatrice and Eugenie intend to handle their relationship with Ferguson.

For now, the reported decision highlights the challenges facing the York family as its members attempt to navigate public scrutiny, royal expectations and complicated family loyalties.

Ultimately, Beatrice and Eugenie appear to be trying to strike a balance between protecting their own positions and maintaining their bond with their mother. Whether this arrangement continues or changes in the months ahead remains to be seen.

Watch: Andrew handed huge compensation payout

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has been awarded £302,000 in compensation after finally surrendering the lease on his sprawling Royal Lodge mansion — but a hefty repair bill means he is still facing a multimillion-pound cost.

The former Duke of York gave up the keys to the 30-room Windsor property after years of controversy surrounding his links to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

But the financial details of his departure have now emerged, revealing that Andrew was entitled to compensation for handing back the property more than 50 years before his 75-year lease was due to expire.

The Crown Estate confirmed that the £302,000 payment was offset against a £1.8million bill for repairs and restoration work.

That leaves the estate with a net payment of around £1.5million from Andrew.

    £300,000 Payout Despite Crumbling Mansion

Andrew signed the lease on Royal Lodge in 2003, committing to spend £7.5million renovating the property in exchange for a £1million upfront payment and a nominal rent.

The agreement included a clause allowing him to receive compensation if he surrendered the lease within its first 25 years.

However, the condition of the estate became a major financial issue when the property was handed back.

The £1.8million repair bill covered work required to return the property in line with the terms of the lease, with the compensation reducing the amount Andrew ultimately owed.

The Crown Estate said the lease had now ended and its focus was on finding a future use for the property that would generate additional financial value for the nation.

Royal Lodge Departure Follows Years of Controversy

Andrew’s departure from the mansion followed mounting public pressure over his association with Epstein and the revelations contained in documents relating to the late financier.

King Charles stripped his brother of his royal titles last year and ordered him to leave the Windsor residence.

Andrew moved to the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk earlier this year, bringing an end to his long stay at Royal Lodge.

His continued occupation of the property had attracted scrutiny, particularly over the nominal rent he paid and questions about his financial arrangements.

Fresh Questions Over Royal Property Deal

The financial details have also renewed interest in the terms of Andrew’s original lease.

A National Audit Office investigation published in June revealed that he had received undisclosed private income from subletting three cottages on the Royal Lodge estate while paying a peppercorn rent.

The arrangement raised questions about how royal residential properties are managed and the financial benefits available to their occupants.

The Crown Estate is now considering the future of Royal Lodge, with the property expected to be marketed for a proposed new use.

For Andrew, the final figures tell a complicated story: although he qualified for £302,000 in compensation for ending his lease early, the substantial repair costs meant the payment did not translate into a financial windfall.

Andrew’s legal battle pays off – here’s how

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has scored a major legal victory after a High Court judge ruled that the search warrants used to raid his homes were unlawful.

The dramatic ruling came after the former Duke of York challenged the legality of the police operation that saw officers search properties linked to him earlier this year.

The warrants covered his residence on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk and his former home, Royal Lodge in Windsor.

But despite the courtroom victory, the wider police investigation is still alive.

    HIGH COURT BOMBSHELL

Mr Justice Hilliard ruled that the warrants had been improperly issued.

Thames Valley Police accepted that the wrong statutory provision had been used when the search powers were granted.

The warrants have therefore been quashed.

The ruling represents a significant victory for Andrew, who had launched a judicial review challenging the legality of the searches.

But the judge made one thing crystal clear:

The ruling does not end the criminal investigation.

Mr Justice Hilliard said that quashing the warrants did not mean the entire investigation was unlawful.

    POLICE RAIDS AT ROYAL PROPERTIES

The searches took place in February after Andrew was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office.

Police searched his former Windsor residence, Royal Lodge, as well as his home on the Sandringham Estate.

The investigation relates to allegations concerning Andrew’s links to the late Jeffrey Epstein and claims that sensitive information may have been shared during Andrew’s time as the UK’s trade envoy.

Andrew has denied wrongdoing. He was questioned under caution before being released under investigation.

    THE FIGHT OVER SEIZED MATERIAL

The legal battle isn’t finished yet.

Police are now facing another question:

Can they legally keep the material seized during the raids?

Thames Valley Police has said legal proceedings are continuing over how the seized material should be handled and whether it can lawfully be retained as part of the investigation.

That issue is expected to be considered at a future hearing.

    ANDREW’S LEGAL GAMBLE PAYS OFF

Andrew’s decision to challenge the warrants has now produced a clear result.

The High Court has confirmed that the search warrants were unlawful.

However, the ruling does not amount to a finding that Andrew has been cleared of the allegations being investigated.

    The police investigation remains active.

That leaves the former royal facing a very different battle:

He has won the fight over the raids — but the bigger investigation continues.

A ROYAL LEGAL DRAMA WITH MORE TO COME

The case has placed extraordinary attention on the use of police search powers in a high-profile investigation involving a former senior member of the Royal Family.

For Andrew, the ruling provides a significant legal setback for the police operation.

For investigators, however, the case is far from finished.

The next major showdown could focus on the evidence already seized — and whether police will ultimately be allowed to keep using it.

    THE BOTTOM LINE

Andrew has won the legal challenge over the search warrants.

The High Court has ruled that the warrants used to raid his Sandringham and Royal Lodge properties were unlawful.

But there is no final end to the wider investigation.

The warrants have been quashed. The police probe goes on.

  • Andrew allies raise fresh questions over arrest as legal battle reaches High Court

Andrew allies raise fresh questions over arrest as legal battle reaches High Court

Allies of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor have reportedly drawn comparisons between the former Duke of York’s arrest and the treatment of the late Lord Brittan during Operation Midland, as Andrew’s legal challenge against the police reaches the High Court.

Andrew is taking legal action against Thames Valley Police and the Central Criminal Court over the lawfulness of search warrants that allowed officers to raid his residence on the Sandringham Estate and his former home, Royal Lodge, in February.

The first hearing in his challenge against Thames Valley Police is due to take place at the High Court today.

The legal action comes amid growing scrutiny over the circumstances surrounding the police investigation and the searches of Andrew’s properties. His allies have reportedly questioned the way he has been treated and have raised comparisons with the controversial handling of allegations against Lord Brittan during Operation Midland.

However, the comparison reflects the views of Andrew’s supporters and should not be taken as an established finding by the court.

At the same time, the case has reportedly exposed tensions surrounding Andrew’s finances and his relationship with King Charles.

Following reports that Andrew was taking legal action against the police, sources moved to clarify that the King is “absolutely not funding” his brother’s legal challenge.

The reported intervention has added another layer to the dispute, with questions surrounding how Andrew’s legal costs will be met as his challenge progresses.

The King has previously been reported to have taken a firm position on providing financial support to his brother. Sources have stressed that Andrew’s legal action is separate from the Royal Family and is not being funded by the monarch.

The High Court hearing could now provide greater clarity over Andrew’s challenge to the search warrants and the legal basis on which they were issued, while the dispute over his funding arrangements highlights the increasingly separate position he occupies within the Royal Family.

For now, the allegations made by Andrew’s allies remain claims, and the court will ultimately determine whether the police action and search warrants were lawful.

  • Eugenie & Beatrice ‘growing apart’ – here’s why

Eugenie & Beatrice ‘growing apart’ – here’s why

Princess Eugenie and Meghan Markle are reportedly at the centre of a book-related controversy that has allegedly created further tensions within the Royal Family.

According to reports, Princess Eugenie and her sister, Princess Beatrice, are said to be facing growing differences as they seek to establish greater independence from their parents, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson, as well as from Meghan Markle. Both sisters have their own families and are reportedly keen to avoid royal controversies that could affect their personal lives.

A source quoted by Woman’s Day claimed that Beatrice and Eugenie are attempting to create more distance from their parents and, increasingly, from each other.

“They love each other dearly, of course, but they’ve realised that always being seen as a package deal hasn’t necessarily helped them, so they’re going their separate ways,” the source reportedly said.

The insider also claimed there is “a lot at stake” for both sisters, suggesting they are concerned about maintaining their positions within the monarchy. According to the report, the pressure has allegedly led to increased competition between them, with both said to be exploring opportunities that could provide greater independence if their royal roles were to change.

Tensions reportedly increased after Eugenie became embroiled in a controversy involving Meghan Markle. In early October, a copy of Meghan’s book The Bench, which she had reportedly gifted to Eugenie, appeared for sale on eBay for £19,999 ($26,000).

The listing has since ended, but it reportedly included a photograph of a handwritten note from Meghan to Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank. According to reports attributed to StyleCaster, Eugenie was “horrified” to discover the book had been put up for sale and said she did not know how it had happened.

The claims remain unverified, and neither Princess Eugenie nor Princess Beatrice has publicly confirmed that the sisters are involved in a “power battle” or that their relationship has deteriorated.

  • Ex-Prince Andrew takes on police – here’s why

Ex-Prince Andrew takes on police – here’s why

EX-PRINCE Andrew has launched an extraordinary legal attack on police after his homes were raided in connection with the explosive investigation surrounding Jeffrey Epstein.

The former Duke of York is taking Thames Valley Police to court as he attempts to challenge the search warrants used before his arrest earlier this year.

Andrew, now known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office and questioned for hours before being released under investigation. He has denied wrongdoing and has not been charged.

Now, in a dramatic new twist, his legal team is seeking a judicial review of the warrants that allowed officers to search his properties.

    Andrew Fights Back

The legal challenge puts the former prince in an extraordinary position — taking on the police while an investigation into allegations surrounding his time as a British trade envoy continues.

The allegations centre on claims that Andrew shared confidential government information with Jeffrey Epstein during his years as the UK’s special trade representative.

    Andrew denies wrongdoing.

His lawyers are now seeking to establish whether the warrants used by police were legally valid.

    Homes Searched in Dramatic Raids

Police searched properties connected to Andrew, including his former residence at Royal Lodge and his newer home on the Sandringham Estate.

The searches followed his arrest in February, when detectives questioned him as part of the investigation.

The case has since developed into a major legal confrontation, with Andrew challenging the police action through the High Court.

If his challenge succeeds, the court could rule that the warrants were improperly obtained.

However, legal experts have warned that even such a ruling would not necessarily bring the wider investigation to an end. Police could potentially seek fresh warrants or take other legal steps concerning material already seized.

    A Royal Legal First

The case has been described as an extraordinary moment in royal history.

Andrew is not simply defending himself against allegations — he is directly challenging the police investigation and the legal authority behind searches of his homes.

The former prince has already endured a spectacular fall from royal life.

He lost his royal titles in 2025 following years of controversy surrounding his relationship with Epstein and allegations of sexual misconduct, which Andrew has denied.

Now his battle with police threatens to drag the scandal into another dramatic chapter.

    King Charles Draws the Line

Adding to Andrew’s troubles, King Charles has reportedly made clear that royal funds will not be used to pay for his brother’s legal fight.

The Palace has treated the proceedings as Andrew’s personal matter, meaning the former prince faces the financial and legal consequences himself.

That decision underlines just how far Andrew has fallen from the centre of royal life.

Once one of the most prominent members of the Royal Family, he is now fighting a legal battle that could determine whether police searches connected to the investigation were lawful.

    The Next Major Test

A High Court hearing concerning Andrew’s challenge is scheduled to take place this week, with proceedings initially expected to be held privately.

The outcome could prove hugely significant.

For Andrew, it is a chance to challenge the legal foundations of the investigation.

For police, it is a test of whether the warrants used in the dramatic searches of his properties can withstand scrutiny.

And for the Royal Family, it is yet another unwelcome chapter in the extraordinary collapse of the former prince’s public standing.

  • Spencer reveals pathetic Prince Andrew Moment Diana witnessed

Spencer reveals pathetic Prince Andrew Moment Diana witnessed

Princess Diana’s brother Charles Spencer has lifted the lid on a bizarre moment involving Prince Andrew that left even his sister noticing the teenager’s reaction.

The extraordinary memory appears in Spencer’s explosive new memoir about Diana, Swan Song: Diana, My Sister, and dates back to a service at the Church of St Mary Magdalene at Sandringham.

According to Spencer, he and Diana were sitting in church when a teenage Andrew reacted to an unexpected phrase from the priest.

And his response was anything but solemn.

    Andrew’s Unusual Church Reaction

Spencer recalls that Andrew raised his eyebrows with what he described as “theatrical exaggeration” before breaking into a smirk.

    The reason?

The priest had apparently referred to “the virgin’s womb.”

Spencer writes that Andrew appeared greatly amused by the reference to female anatomy in the middle of the otherwise serious religious service.

    And Diana noticed it too.

The moment, recalled decades later by her brother, has emerged as one of the stranger anecdotes in Spencer’s new book — adding another unusual chapter to the complicated history surrounding the late princess and the Royal Family.

Diana Was There to Witness It

What makes the story particularly striking is that Diana was reportedly sitting alongside her brother when the incident occurred.

Rather than describing a major royal confrontation, Spencer portrays it as a fleeting glimpse of Andrew’s personality as a teenager.

But decades later, the seemingly trivial moment has resurfaced as part of a much larger memoir packed with controversial recollections about life inside the Royal Family.

    Another Bombshell From Diana’s Brother

The Andrew anecdote is just one of several revelations contained in Spencer’s memoir.

Elsewhere, he recounts deeply personal conversations with Diana about the breakdown of her marriage to the then-Prince Charles.

Spencer also claims Diana once told him that her husband was “in love with his valet”, although he acknowledges that he never established whether she meant the remark literally and that she did not identify the alleged staff member.

The memoir has also triggered controversy over Spencer’s recollections of King Charles and the aftermath of Diana’s death.

    Royal Family Facing Fresh Scrutiny

Spencer’s book has reopened painful memories from one of the darkest periods in modern royal history.

Among his most controversial claims is his recollection that then-Prince Charles told him, following Diana’s death, “we’ll forget her soon enough.” Buckingham Palace pushed back against the account, saying grief can affect memory and judgment.

Spencer has also become embroiled in a dispute with Piers Morgan after acknowledging an error concerning the publication of photographs of Diana. Morgan has threatened legal action, while Spencer subsequently apologised for his mistaken assumption.

The Strange Detail Nobody Saw Coming

Against the backdrop of those much bigger revelations, the story of teenage Andrew’s reaction in church might appear relatively minor.

Yet it is precisely the bizarre nature of the memory that has caught attention.

    A teenage prince.

    A solemn church service.

A reference to “the virgin’s womb.”

And a smirk witnessed by his older sister Diana.

Decades later, Charles Spencer has brought the strange scene back into the spotlight — offering readers another glimpse into the personalities behind the walls of the Royal Family.

  • Can Charles stop Andrew using funds for legal action?

Can Charles stop Andrew using funds for legal action?

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has begun legal proceedings against Thames Valley Police, challenging the lawfulness of search warrants used in the investigation that led to his arrest in February.

The former Prince Andrew was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office following the emergence of information about his dealings with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

His lawyers are challenging warrants that allowed police to search his residences at Sandringham and Royal Lodge in Windsor, according to the Telegraph.

The legal challenge comes as King Charles continues to provide financial support for his younger brother and accommodate him on the Sandringham estate.

However, a royal source has said the King’s private financial support should not be used to fund Mountbatten-Windsor’s legal action against Thames Valley Police, but can he stop Andrew?

The former prince is seeking a judicial review of the warrants issued ahead of his arrest. It has not been disclosed how much financial support the King provides to his brother, but the arrangement was reportedly part of the terms agreed when Mountbatten-Windsor left Royal Lodge.

The allowance does not come from the Sovereign Grant, which provides £138 million in public funding for the monarchy. Instead, it is understood to come from the King’s private wealth, including income from the Duchy of Lancaster, private estates, investments and inheritances.

Thames Valley Police has confirmed it is “engaged in legal proceedings in relation to warrants previously obtained from the Central Criminal Court”.

It added: “As these legal proceedings are currently ongoing, it would be inappropriate for us to comment further.”

Mountbatten-Windsor, who lost his titles as a prince and Duke of York over his connections to the sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, wants a judicial review to consider the legality of the search warrants.

A court hearing on Thursday afternoon will be part of Mountbatten-Windsor’s bid to quash the warrants.
